Eligibility Requirements

Kid-in-a-Kayak is open to all children of Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents.

For safety reasons, children must meet the following requirements:
– Minimum 130cm tall
– Weigh between 25 to 50 kg
– Able to swim 50m unassisted without a floatation device.

It is recommended that children are between Primary 4 (10 years old) to Primary 6 (12 years old). Younger siblings or younger children will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Even as we need to adopt a fee-paying model to keep the programme sustainable, one of our key aims is to keep Kid-in-a-Kayak accessible and the playing field level for children to pick up the sport. Fees are therefore set at only $180* for a 3-month term payment basis.

Each term is 3 months long. For 2018, the terms are as follows:

Term 1 – Starts on 6/7th January

Term 2 – Starts on 7/8th April

Term 3 – Starts on 7/8th July

Term 4 – Starts on 6/7th October

There is a one time sign-up fee of $50 for new students.

Kid-in-a-Kayak runs continuously for the whole year, except on special occasions like Public Holidays and when the reservoir is closed for competitions.

Please note that there will be no refunds for term fees, missed lessons, lessons that are cancelled due to inclement weather, and also that while the programme runs through the year, there will be certain dates on which no lessons will be scheduled as a result of other events in the canoeing calendar.
