Coaching Level 1

 Level One Canoe-Sprint Coaching Course (Technical)

 Objectives :
Level One is designed to equip the beginning coaches with the basic technical skills of racing a c canoe and kayak, as well as development of specific knowledge about the sport. At this level, the coach will be better prepared to coach beginning athletes in basic technique and plan practice sessions in a safe and motivating manner.

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to swim 200m without a buoyancy aid
  • Have at least two years of canoe-sprint training experiences or one competition experience at the national inter-schools or above canoeing championships

To obtain the Level One Canoe-Sprint Coaching (Technical) Certification, participants are required to:

  • Holder of a recognised and current standard first-aid certification
  • Holder of Level One Singapore Coach Excellence (SG-Coach) Programme(Theory) or equivalent
  • Complete 4 sessions (approx. 2 to 3 hr. per session) of attachment under the guidance of the assigned national coach

  • Knowledge-handling the equipment
  • Principles of good paddling
  • Process of teaching c canoe & kayak
  • Planning a safe & conducive practice session

Demonstrate of Correct Technique
