SCF Paracanoeing Development Programme Launch

September 10, 2014 in Featured, News by Singapore Canoe Federation

24 August 2014 marks a special day for the Paracanoeing community as we launch the SCF Paracanoeing Development Programme.

16 of the beneficiaries from AWWA Teach Me Services were paddling in kayaks alongside our Guest of Honour – Minister for Culture, Community and Youth & Second Minister for Ministry of Communications and Information, Mr Lawrence Wong and our Special Guest – Minister of State, Ministry of National Development, Mr Desmond Lee Ti-Seng.

It was also the federation’s honour to have Mr Lawrence Wong to officiate the graduation ceremony for students from the pilot phase.

The SCF Paracanoeing Development Programme, an initiative under the SCF’s broader social and charitable outreach initiative, Canoeing Cares, aims to achieve the following objectives:

    • provide an additional avenue for the physically disabled to carry out physical activities/therapy through water sports;
    • allow participants to achieve community integration; and
    • identify high performing individuals to represent Singapore at the Paralympics and other sporting competitions

This 100% volunteer-led and run initiative is offered free of charge to its beneficiaries.

We will also like to make special mentions to our sponsors who have contributed generously to the vibrancy of this programme launch:
