Coaches’ Sharing Session

April 18, 2016 in Featured, News by Singapore Canoe Federation

Dear Paddling Community,

As part of our continued commitment to coaching development, we will be organising regular sharing sessions delivered by elite coaches and our partners from the Singapore Sports Institute (SSI).

The details for the upcoming session are as follow:

Date: 7th May, Saturday

Time: 1300-1500hrs

Venue: Sport Singapore NSA Meeting Rooms 2 & 3 (From Sport Singapore Lobby, turn left and walk all the way straight to the NSA offices)

Topic: Common Injuries in Canoe Sprint & Their Prevention

Please wear shoes as the second part of the session will be at the Singapore Sports Institute Gym.

Sport injuries can be debilitating and demoralising and many a times, preventable. Injuries will not only reduce the quality of training, but also affect athletic performance and in serious cases, end an athlete career. In this session, national coaches Coach Wang and Coach Balazs will be sharing about common injuries in Canoe Sprint and their prevention.

In the first hour, Coach Wang will be talking about the different injuries and their causes, as well as steps that can be taken to prevent and treat the injuries. In the second hour, there will be a practical session with a SSI Strength and Conditioning Trainer, who will demonstrate some exercises that may help prevent injuries. Coach Balazs will also talk about correcting kayak technique to prevent injuries.

Please click on this link: to sign up for the sharing session. We look forward to seeing you there.

Thank you.
