Ex-National flat water sprints athlete from 2003-2005; 2017 Surfski Ocean Series; 2018 UK national Regatta & 2019 Surfski World Championships despite a hiatus between 2005 to 2014.

Professionally, I’m a senior sustainability manager for energy & facilities at Chanel APAC. Ex-Google and ex-Apple Real Estate & Decarbonisation for APAC portfolio.

A grassroot leader at Ayer Rajah for the cyclical maintenance program of the community center. If elected, I aspire to incubate sustainable cross-discipline paddling lifestyle in every possible water bodies for the local communities.

As an international canoe polo referee, my deep-rooted connection to canoeing drives my commitment to character development and fairness through sports.

I've earned a reputation as a prominent global canoe polo referee, overseeing prestigious competitions including the World Games, Asian Games, and World Championships. National organizations such as the China Canoeing Association and Indonesia Canoeing Association have enlisted my support in coordinating regional tournaments and referee training.

Being the first Asian referee invited to officiate at the European Championships is a point of pride. My extensive experience positions me to infuse SCF with technical expertise, catalysing positive transformation.

Recreational sea kayaker since NCC and ODAC days. Loves exploring the waterways and forest trails of Singapore, and since our land is finite, hopes paddling can be almost as accessible as running.

Mother of 3 national youth sprint kayakers, and was influenced to pick up sprint kayaking in my 40s. Strong believer in sports as an avenue to build life skills and unite people, and that it’s never too late to learn a new sport.

Currently SVP & Head of Healthcare at Economic Development Board. Breadth of expertise across business development, building partnerships, strategy, planning/policy, governance and human resources. Awarded Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2022.

Started sprint kayaking since 2005 and held various leadership positions in Singapore Polytechnic and National University of Singapore Canoeing Team. Represented Singapore in World Universiade Games 2013.

Founder and President of NUS Alumni Canoeing Team, which was established in 2015.

Previously Assistant Coach with ActiveSG Canoe Academy (KIAK) and Coach of Tampines North Canoeing Team from 2021-2023.

Aim to reduce barriers of entry for anyone who is interested in the sport, whether they are new or returning paddlers, and build a more cohesive canoeing community by bridging the gap across schools, tertiaries and clubs.

David also volunteers as a grassroots leader at Jalan Besar GRC and PAP branch at Zhenghua, MCST Secretary, SGMUSO Vice Chairman, serving in the SAF, Head of Special Events for Toh Clan Association and successfully completed the Company of Good Fellowship in 2022.

About Me:

As the SCF’s Chief Technical Official, Cheng, who is an International Canoe Federation-certified race official, is responsible for overseeing the development of technical officials and advising on the technical aspects of sprint and marathon championships. Behind his quiet, unassuming demeanour lies a storied past. A former national athlete who represented Singapore at the 14th SEA Games and 2nd Asian Canoe Championships, Cheng later served as National Coach for the better part of a decade, and has officiated at numerous international races. Cheng works as a technical officer with the National Institute of Education.
